A new representative government with the broadest support from the Malian people must swiftly be formed by President Traoré. The former junta must stop interfering in the country’s political affairs.
At a time when the international community, ECOWAS, the African Union, the United Nations and the European Union are mobilized to help Mali regain her sovereignty over the whole of her territory, everyone in Mali must show themselves equal to the challenges facing the country.
These developments highlight the need to deploy an African stabilization force.
