France condemns the violence perpetrated yesterday in Abidjan against the UN Operation in Côte d’Ivoire which left three people injured.
France condemns the attempts to prevent UNOCI from fulfilling its mandate. It especially urges all parties to respect UNOCI’s freedom of movement, guaranteed by the mandate entrusted to it by the Security Council in its resolution 1962.
France also condemns the fact that a certain section of the Ivorian media, especially Radiodiffusion-Télévision ivoirienne (RTI), is inciting hatred against UNOCI.
France reaffirms that measures, including targeted sanctions, will be imposed against persons who threaten the peace process, obstruct the work of UNOCI and other international actors, or commit serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, as stipulated in United Nations Security Council resolution 1946 (2010).
