Iran - IAEA report on the Iranian nuclear program

Statement by the Deputy Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs

Paris, 27 February 2012

The content of the report just released by the IAEA confirms France’s deep concern regarding the Iranian nuclear program. This report underlines Iran’s continuation of all its sensitive activities in violation of the resolutions of the Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors without any credible civilian purpose.

It also indicates that Iran has, despite the Agency’s repeated requests, refused to grant the Agency access to the Parchin military site where tests probably linked to militarization (hydrodynamic tests) have taken place in the past.

We strongly deplore Iran’s uncooperative attitude which contradicts the intentions expressed in Mr. Jalili’s letter of February 15.

We strongly condemn the continuation of these sensitive activities and demand that Iran immediately cooperate with the IAEA and the international community. The IAEA Board of Governors, which will convene on March 5, will have to draw the consequences of this new report by conveying a new message of firmness to Iran.
