France condemns in the strongest terms the attack on an African Union/United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) patrol on November 6th in Darfur, killing one Mission soldier and wounding two others.
We pay tribute to the action conducted by these soldiers and their essential role in protecting civilians and displaced persons in Darfur. We reaffirm France’s full support for UNAMID’s action in favor of the safety of Darfur’s civilian populations.
We call upon the Sudanese authorities to shed light upon this murderous aggression against a peacekeeping force and to put an end to the impunity that reigns in this region by bringing the criminals to justice.
