We are talking about a horrifying report on the sufferings of the Syrian people. It was extremely moving. One of the Permanent Representative who lived in a refugee camp, said how horrified he was by the report on sexual violence used against the population, regarding the use of arms, which are not targeted at fighters. The regime is using Scud missiles which are not precise and the only goal of these Scud missiles is simply to kill civilians. Syria is collapsing in front of us and the Security Council is unable to act. That is really horrible. During the session I said that the three reports we heard should have been public, at least to put a sort of moral pressure on the countries which are opposing an action of the Security Council on this issue.

Q : Will the next meeting be public ?

I will try, personally, to have a public briefing. Beyond the emotional meeting, there is a moral issue. We are creating a Somalia in the heart of the Middle East. We will have a Somalia in the heart of the Middle East, with all the political consequences on the security of the region. And the more we are waiting, the more there will be a radicalization. The more there will be a radicalization ; the more we are nearly sure to have as I said a Somalia -type situation. Ask the countries which do not want to put pressure on the regime if they want to change their policy.
